Tour de Taco Bell: Border Foods Style

by

Can you ride a bicycle through a drive through window? That’s the question that the Corpse Whale Racing bicycle team might just answer for us on Saturday, August 19th. The team has planned a century ride (100 miles of biking), and the only rule of the ride is that they must fuel themselves exclusively with Taco Bell.

Raven Dewitt, one of the members of Corpse Whale Racing, said she originally got the idea from a team on the west coast, and has seen multiple teams throughout the country complete the same challenge. Corpse Whale team members are serious athletes—some of them track racers, some of them gravel racers—and they support each other at races across the US. This group is special to its members. Dewitt labeled it a “FTW” group (Fem, Trans, Women), and it has served as a safe and supportive space to her and many others.

This challenge is a little bit different than their races or social rides. The team has planned a route stopping at 12 different Border Foods Taco Bell locations across the Twin Cities, and plan to cover just under 100 miles. “It will probably take the whole day,” says Dewitt. “Due to the hot weather forecasted, we plan to take it pretty easy at around 13-17mph,” and of course stopping for multiple Baja Blasts along the way.

Other teams have instituted “rules” for the challenge, like trying a new item at each location. Dewitt does not wish to enforce any such standards, but she does plan on starting with her favorite item—a Crunch Wrap!

The group will meet at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, at our 215 E Lake Street location, and plan to depart at 8:30. We’re excited to give all participants free Border Foods water bottles and of course free coupons for a Combo meal!
