Team Member Spotlight: Marcus Amador

by

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Marcus Amador. I am a hard worker and a team player. When I was younger, I was in a Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) program which taught me structure that has helped me to grow in this company.

When did you join the Border family?
I started with Border Foods in September of 2017. I had no experience in fast food, and I had been doing landscaping for ten to fifteen years prior. I applied for a part time position, but moved up to a SL position within six months. I then was promoted to an AGM. I took over the store that I helped build within two years. My health has caused me to recently take a leave of absence. I am excited and ready to come back to my team.

What is your favorite part about working for Border Foods?
I like how the company treats their employees. We feel like a family no matter what. They really believe in people.

What’s your go-to menu item?
Steak Burrito Supreme

Any fun facts about yourself that you can share with us?
I enjoy making the team laugh and being a clown sometimes. I am a big Texas fan.

If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day and why?
Paul Rodrigues because I love laughing and having a good time. He paved the way for Hispanic comedians.

List one piece of advice you’d like to give to your fellow team members.
Stay positive!

Share three career lessons you’ve learned so far.
I have learned how to deal with difficult people (both customers and employees), and how to adapt to an ever changing schedule. I am learning the business aspect of the company. When I began working for Border Foods, I would need help to open an email. Now I am digging into P&Ls, and strategically working on analytics.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to watch sports and movies with my family.
