Team member Spotlight: Juli Froehlig

by

Juli joined Border Foods seven years ago after responding to a Craigslist ad. She had been working at Culver’s for 12 years, but saw no room for advancement or promotion. With a bachelor’s degree and previous industry experience, she knew she needed to make a change to advance her career.

Of the transition from Culver’s to Taco Bell, Juli says, “It was a whirlwind, to be honest.” She now feels a strong sense of loyalty toward Border Foods.

It’s very rewarding because here, there’s a career track and room to grow… Border gives me the tools and systems to be successful.”

After a few months of training, Juli started as an Assistant Manager at the Monticello, MN location. In 2015 she was tapped to open the Buffalo location. She says most of the original team members and leaders are still at that location today after six years, a testament to her strong leadership.

“I look for people that have the same personality and commitment or goals, so that they fit in right away. My team is so great. They’re behind me and what I want to do.

What’s more, the Buffalo location is a training store offering Juli’s team the unique opportunity to train others for success.

“You can make tacos anywhere. It’s the people that take you to the next level in the workplace.

Juli has helpful advice to share with other RGMs:  “It’s just tacos and burritos! Don’t sweat the small things; think of the bigger picture, think long term how to create a positive environment. Recognize your team and get them to communicate. We use the Crew app. Find an Assistant General Manager (AGM) who’s a ride or die,” who has your back completely.

Up next for Juli? She’s tackling the Area Coach curriculum and looks forward to what the next nine months will bring.
