Team Member Spotlight: Ryan Spindler

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I grew up on a dairy farm in Browerville, MN. I was always the kid who asked why, and now I’m the one with all the answers. I currently live in Alexandria, MN with my wife and two kids.

When did you join the Border family?
I have worked with Border Foods for more then four years and have been in three different stores.

What is your favorite part about working for Border Foods?
I love feeling like I am part of another family. Everyone has time to say hi and carry on a conversation. It is the only place I have worked that the feeling is the same between the stores, offices and meetings offsite. It doesn’t feel like work, but that I am going to make some great tacos with the family. 

What’s your go-to menu item?
The Dorito Tacos

Any fun facts about yourself that you can share with us?
My first time going out of the country was to Mexico with Border Foods. I competitively played Call of Duty on the Xbox in college.

If given a chance, who would you like to be for a day and why?
A NASCAR driver because they have always fascinated me. Who wouldn’t want to drive 200 miles per hour?

List one piece of advice you’d like to give to your fellow team members.
It’s just tacos and burritos. It isn’t worth getting too excited over.

Share three career lessons you’ve learned so far.
Nothing is worth getting stressed over. Never assume anything. No need to be a hero in a team game because you are only as strong those you surround yourself with.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
When my kids are sleeping, I like to spend time on the computer or Xbox. When they are awake, it’s all about what they want to do.
