At Border Foods, one of our goals is to build and maintain pristine restaurants. So, when a team wins an award for doing just that, we get pretty excited. Congratulations to our Richfield, MN restaurant (and accompanying team) for winning their city’s Food Safety Award for a second year in a row!
“Sandy and the entire Richfield team deserve all of the recognition for this award. It takes a village to keep the restaurant looking as good as it does,” says Area Coach Jarret Persons.
According to the City of Richfield, a health inspector from the Richfield Advisory Board of Health nominates 3 to 4 candidates a year in 3 risk categories based on food collaborative interviews and inspection results. The categories include:
- full service (or large) restaurant
- fast food/pizza carry out/cafeteria service
- retail grocery
Winners are judged on a number of food safety elements and questions. The Richfield team, including Assistant Area Coach CJ Schreifels, Restaurant General Manager Sandy Avila, and her staff, will be honored with the award during a City Council meeting at the end of May.
