We’re officially less than one week away from Border Foods’ FIRST Swinging for Scholarships golf event! We visited with Mollie Sommer, the Community Engagement and Outreach Specialist at Border Foods, to learn more about this exciting event.
Swinging for Scholarships is the first event of its kind. All are welcome to come out and enjoy the course while supporting a great cause. While it’s a great reason to get people together, Mollie says that Border Foods’ main goal is to grow the scholarship program.
“We wanted to figure out another way to increase the amount of dollars to give back to our employees and give away in scholarships,” Mollie shares. With the proceeds of this special event, Border Foods hopes to see more applications submitted and in turn, have the opportunity to increase the number of scholarships awarded and the amounts.
The Impact
Why do these scholarships matter? With your help, we can positively affect the lives of real people — team members who use the scholarships to further their education and ultimately, go on to contribute to society.
“Border Foods is nothing without our team members and large force of employees,” says Mollie. “We are invested in them, beyond just them coming to work. It’s important to be able to give these opportunities to our team members.”
Event registration kicks off at 10:30 a.m. at Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids, MN. Shine up those clubs, and come out for an unforgettable day of fun and giving back!
