Every year, eligible Border Foods employees have the opportunity to apply for the Border Foods and Carol Williams Scholarship awards. With our application opening date fast approaching, we’re catching up with past recipients to see where they are now!
How has the scholarship award impacted your educational opportunities?
Winning the Border Foods & Carol Williams Scholarship helped make my goals achievable. I never dreamed I would be able to afford the tuition at my private 4-year university, but this generous award has made it possible!
What are you looking to accomplish or become, after going to school?
I’m hoping to be a secondary social studies teacher after college, and hopefully someday I will be able to teach abroad.
How has Border Foods helped support you in achieving your goals?
Outside of the scholarship, my experience working for Border Foods has really surpassed the expectations I had when I applied for my job. The people at Border Foods make my fast food restaurant feel like a family, celebrating my achievements with me and my coworkers, and encouraging us to become the best we can be.
How did it feel to receive your scholarship award?
I was totally surprised and very excited! With all the excitement in the moment I found out, it wasn’t until I got home that it really sunk in – I felt incredibly blessed and so grateful.
Why is pursuing education important to you?
Pursuing education for me personally is the next step to my goals and dreams. As I want to become a teacher, I also believe that knowledge and learning is essential to making the world a better place. It’s a privilege and honor that I get to continue in my education, and I love to see when other students are enabled to do so too! By providing this scholarship to the community, Border Foods is helping to enable students like me to achieve our dreams.
